Marston’s apprentices visit House of Commons

Marston’s joined other leading hospitality businesses at the fourth annual Hospitality Apprenticeships Showcase at the House of Commons.
6th Feb 2020

The event is held annually during National Apprenticeship Week, which ran from 3-9 February this year. It was an opportunity for Marston’s to showcase the long-term careers apprenticeships can lead to within the hospitality industry (the sector creates one in six of all new employment positions in the UK each year).

With around 400 apprentices in roles right across the business, Marston’s invests around £1 million developing people to help create industry-skilled specialists for the future. The 10 award-winning Marston’s apprentices who attended the event met their local MP, and received a certificate to recognise their dedication and contribution.

Stuart Anderson, local MP for Wolverhampton South-West, said: “Apprentices make a huge difference to local businesses and the wider economy. It’s brilliant to see a company in my hometown investing in its people and offering long-term career opportunities.”

At this year’s showcase, Marston’s also partnered with Mitchells & Butler and Greene King to take the ‘Loving Hospitality’ pop-up bar on tour. It gave apprentices the opportunity to show off their pulling power and put MPs to the test with a series of interactive challenges.
