The Honeybee in Aylesbury named Pub of the Year at national awards

22nd January 2026

The Honeybee in Aylesbury has been crowned Marston’s Partnership Pub of the Year, taking the top spot against hundreds of outstanding local pubs from across the UK, earning national recognition for the team’s exceptional hospitality and community spirit.

The award celebrates exceptional pubs that deliver brilliant guest experiences, foster strong local connections, and create spaces where everyone feels welcome.

This year, The Honeybee stood out for the ambition, warmth and consistency of its team, the pub’s incredible fundraising efforts with local charities such as Aylesbury Cancer Research and Barnardo’s, as well as its close relationships with local schools and other community groups.

Following a major investment in 2025, the Honeybee is a central hub of its local community, hosting a mix of experiences for local guests - from charity quiz nights to poker evenings, bingo sessions and live sport - as one of Marston’s innovative Two Door pubs.

This new Two Door format reimagines the traditional pub layout by creating two complementary spaces under one roof:

  • A vibrant, lively bar for locals, sports fans and evening social groups
  • A warm, relaxed family lounge designed around comfort, inclusivity and time well spent together

A central partition subtly separates these areas two while keeping The Honeybee’s unique identity, giving guests the freedom to choose the kind of visit they want, without compromising on atmosphere or experience.

Gavin Crisell, Licensee at The Honeybee, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to win this award. It’s a huge achievement for the team and a reflection of the passion we put into making The Honeybee a place people love to visit. We’ve worked hard to create a space that feels welcoming and vibrant, and this recognition means the world to us.”

Since joining the pub in 2023, Gavin has aimed to cultivate a family-friendly vibe.

“For me, it’s about making sure every guest feels valued and delivering above and beyond for them. I think that’s why the Two Door format really works, there’s something for everyone,” Gavin added.

“Whether they’re here for a family meal, a darts match or a quick pint, making every visit special is important to us at The Honeybee.”
