2nd February 2026
Neil Campbell, Chief Operating Officer at Marston’s PLC, has shared his optimistic outlook for the future of pubs in a recent profile for BII News Magazine.
The article, titled “Rising to the Challenge – Why I’m Confident About the Future of Pubs”, appears in the latest edition of BII News Magazine, published by the British Institute of Innkeeping, and reflects on the resilience, innovation and community spirit that continue to define the UK pub sector.
Drawing on his career across hospitality and retail - and his experience at Marston’s since joining the team in 2024 - Neil sets out why he believes pubs will continue to thrive in 2026 and beyond by staying focused on people, standards, innovation and local communities.
Concluding with a message of optimism for the year ahead, Neil said:
“My message to fellow operators and the wider hospitality community this year is this. Stay focused on what matters most. Invest in your people, embrace innovation and new ideas. And never lose sight of your role in the community. The challenges are real, but so are the opportunities. With the right strategy, culture, and commitment, I believe pubs will continue to thrive, supporting communities and driving our industry forward for generations to come.”
