Marston's teams up with SQE to strengthen energy resilience

Marston's has appointed SQE, an energy supply platform for large businesses, as its new strategic electricity partner across its estate of more than 1,300 pubs, bars and inns.
The deal, brokered by EIC Partnership, will supply around 140 GWh of electricity a year, for an initial two-year contract
The partnership supports Marston's ongoing drive to flexibly manage energy costs while increasing the amount of renewable electricity used across its nationwide estate - an important part of Marston’s Pubs with Purpose sustainability strategy and commitment to reach Net Zero by 2040.
SQE's data-led approach also provides Marston's with clearer, site-by-site visibility of energy use, helping pub teams plan ahead with more confidence.
Chris White, Energy Manager at Marston's, said:
"The electricity market is changing rapidly, and cost remains a critical consideration for the hospitality sector - but so does our commitment to lower-carbon energy.
“One of our biggest challenges is increasing the amount of renewable electricity we use, at a price that works for our business. SQE gives us the expertise and technology to do both, while supporting our pubs and partners as our energy strategy continues to evolve."
The move builds on other proactive steps Marston's has taken to reduce its environmental impact, including investing in solar rooftop installations and developing the UK pub sector’s largest rapid EV charging network.
