Marston’s backs new campaign celebrating the power of pubs in their communities
20th October 2026
Local pubs are more than just places to eat and drink. Every day, they bring people together, support local causes, create jobs and opportunities, back grassroots sport and provide welcoming spaces where people can connect and feel part of their community.
Now, Marston’s is backing a new campaign from The Morning Advertiser - Pubs with Purpose - which celebrates the positive social impact of pubs across the UK and the significant contribution they make to the people and places around them.
Bethan Wheatley, General Counsel & Company Secretary at Marston's and Co-Chair of Marston's Sustainability Taskforce, said:
“At Marston’s, we believe great pubs can be a positive force for the people and places around them.
“That belief underpins our own Pubs with Purpose sustainability strategy, which recognises the wider contribution our pubs make through the jobs and opportunities they create, the local causes and economies they support, and the welcoming spaces they provide where people can connect, come together and feel a sense of belonging.
“That’s why we’re delighted to support the Morning Advertiser’s campaign and help shine a light on the many different ways pubs make a positive difference every day.”
Across Marston’s, our pub teams bring that purpose to life in different ways every day, responding to what matters in their own communities and supporting the people around them.
One example is at the Blackpole Inn in Worcester, where the team rallied around a colleague diagnosed with a degenerative disorder, raising funds to help purchase a new wheelchair. It's a powerful reminder of the difference pubs can make, not only to their wider communities, but to the people who work within them too.
