Marston’s Achieves Sustainability Hat-Trick at Industry Awards

30th September 2025

Marston’s has been recognised with three major industry awards for its leadership in sustainable operations, underlining the Group’s commitment to greener practices and its forward-thinking approach to waste reduction and packaging innovation.

At the recent Drinks Sustainability Awards, Marston’s was named winner of the Waste Prevention & Management Award and received a Highly Commended for Innovations in Packaging. Adding to this success, Marston’s also secured the Sustainable Packaging Award at the National Sustainability Awards.

The awards recognised Marston’s standout ‘Making Reuse Simple’ initiative, delivered in partnership with Reconomy Connect. This pioneering scheme, known as Again, moves the recycling debate beyond glass, plastic or paper, focusing instead on reusing packaging at scale to create a true circular economy solution.

In just six months:

  • Over 90,000 bottles have been collected and processed as part of the scheme
  • Nearly 20,000 bottles have been reintroduced into the supply chain and reused, with the remainder responsibly recycled

What began as a trial in 10 pubs has now expanded to 150 sites, demonstrating the scalability and real-world impact of the project.

Alex Rollinson, Energy & Waste Co-ordinator at Marston’s, said:

“Receiving three awards for our sustainability work is fantastic recognition of the dedication and collaboration between Marston’s teams and our partners. We’re committed to leading the way in sustainable innovation and are proud to be making a real difference for our communities and the environment.”
