Our guests expect a high level of diligence in food sourcing to ensure that quality and standards are maintained. We seek to work with suppliers who reflect our own corporate values and look to build long-term mutually sustainable relationships. All food suppliers are either BRC approved, complete a self-audit or are audited independently.
We communicate clearly to our suppliers the level of standards required in our Food Supplier Charter. The Charter is shared with our food suppliers, both current and potential, setting out our expectations on quality of product, traceability of ingredients, ethical approach, sustainable sourcing and associated employment rights. The Charter conveys our expectations for suppliers to reduce their own environmental impact by minimising unnecessary packaging and choosing recyclable materials wherever possible.
The Charter was last updated in 2021 to better support the new Food Information System and a Drinks Supplier Charter will be developed during 2022. It also includes the Government’s (Office for Health Improvement and Disparities) 2024 salt targets and calorie targets. Our suppliers work with us to achieve these targets, particularly when new items are launched.
